DUTCH COOKING WORKSHOP
Deliciously Dutch!
No, not a typically Dutch potato dish with sausage, but this Dutch cooking workshop is about the real Dutch kitchen! During the Dutch cooking workshop we make several dishes with fine local products such as mussels, shrimp, various cabbages and original ‘forgotten vegetables’ like turnips, salsify and Jerusalem artichokes. We’ll roast Texel lamb in the oven and serve it with mashed potatoes and apple known as ‘hot lightning’ and for dessert chocolate pudding with vanilla sauce. This cooking workshop is also great fun for an international groups! For more information or an estimate call or mail us directly.
Over the centuries, Dutch cuisine has become undervalued as it has always been in the shadows of the more populair European cuisines. Fortunately over the past few decades is has been restored and gained in culinary status. In Holland we produce a wide variety of agricultural products, and produce many times more than we can consume ourselves. In short, many of our most products are exported to foreign countries where people are willing to pay more for them. Not only our agriculture, but also our fish catch goes particularly to southern European countries, where people know how delicious and nutritious fish is. We Dutch eat less fish throughout Europe, a real shame!
In this cooking class Hollands we cook a glimpse of what can be found in our small but very fertile country!
