ABOUT CLUBCUISINE

Together with his wife, Maaike Menger, chef Bart Samsom founded Club Cuisine in 2006. Maaike is active behind the scenes in organization and planning. Bart is the manager of Club Cuisine and has been cooking in Amsterdam for over 25 years. Bart gives cooking workshops and cooking courses and presents cooking programs on the radio. Club Cuisine collaborates with highly professional chefs with extensive experience in teaching cooking workshops.

While studying psychology, Bart already cooked in various restaurants. After graduating, cooking remained his great passion. Bart was born in the Netherlands but grew up in the US on a farm in Vermont. His parents also had a strong passion for food and cooking. His father is an organic farming inspector in the US, which is where Bart's sense of quality food and nutrition comes from. Bart is also a member of the Slow Food Foundation and strongly believes that people should spend more time and attention preparing food, especially what's available in their immediate surroundings. There are so many beautiful products and dishes that we've completely forgotten because we focus too much on what's easy available.

Bart's favorite cuisines: Mediterranean and Dutch. Good food, fine wines, and music are central to my life, and I try to share them with others as much as possible. Cooking and eating play a very clear social role in every society and culture. It brings people together;
