DUTCH COOKING WORKSHOP IN AMSTERDAM

During this Dutch cooking workshop, you won't be making traditional Dutch stews, but you will learn about authentic Dutch cuisine! We'll prepare a variety of dishes using delicious regional products like mussels, shrimp, various types of cabbage, and traditional "forgotten vegetables" like turnip, salsify, and Jerusalem artichokes. We'll also prepare Texel lamb with "hete bliksem" (hot lightning) and chocolate pudding with vanilla sauce. This cooking workshop is also great for an international group! In this Dutch cooking workshop, we'll give you a glimpse of what our small but oh-so-fertile country has to offer! Dutch cuisine has been undoubtedly undervalued for centuries. Fortunately, it's increasingly being revived. In the Netherlands, we know many products and produce far more than we can consume ourselves. In short, many of our finest products are exported abroad, where people are willing to pay more for them. Not only our agriculture but also our fish catch goes primarily to southern European countries, where people know how delicious and nutritious fish is. We Dutch eat the least fish in all of Europe—a real shame!
